Welcome to our Aid Mission to Rwanda information page. On November 1, 2008 FARMERS WEST owner Wilja Happé and General Manager Will Stewart traveled to Rwanda to work with members of the relief organization Solace. They helped genocide survivors build Solace Farms, a community garden and flower farm. And on February 21, 2009 Will Stewart retwurned to Rwanda for a follow-up visit.

We have posted updates and journal entries as well as pictures throughout the mission so that everyone will have a chance to be a part of this amazing journey.

We hope that by seeing the pictures and hearing the stories of genocide survivors, and the efforts to help the people of Rwanda rebuild their lives, that you will be inspired to help as well. Below is a link to the Goats for Life program. This is a good site to get more information on the history of the genocide in Rwanda and current efforts to aid the survivors. Donations to these groups go to providing desperately needed health care for orphans and war widows and to programs that help survivors become economically self-sufficient.

Thank you for your interest in our Aid Mission. Don’t forget to check back for updates!

Sincerely,
The FARMERS WEST Family
